  1. Wow, this brings back me­mo­ries of my time vol­un­tee­ring at an ex­cava­ti­on site. The de­di­ca­ti­on of ar­chaeo­lo­gists never cea­ses to ama­ze me. I re­mem­ber spen­ding hours careful­ly brushing away dirt, un­co­ve­ring what loo­ked li­ke just an­o­ther pie­ce of pot­tery, but which tur­ned out to be part of a 2000-year-old sto­rage jar. It’s in­cre­di­ble how much histo­ry is bu­ried right be­neath our feet.
